Dear Eureka Tents,
I am the proud owner of an El Capitan 3 tent, which must be over 15 years old now. This tent has served me well over the years and kept my family dry through numerous torrential downpours, however I must tell you that my level of admiration of this tent was elevated even further after a camping trip in Tennessee this March. The rain started on Friday evening and only let up on Sunday morning, leaving the entire field where we were camping flooded in about 3” of water. I woke up after a fitful sleep to find the floor of my tent floating all around me, but to my great surprise and delight, everything was bone dry. While everyone around me was wringing out soaking sleeping bags, bedding, and clothing, I simply unpegged my tent and floated to a higher dry spot.
Thanks very much for making such an excellent product. Geoff Kee
Hi – I just purchased two of your El Capitan tents. I’ve been winter camping for 16 years now comfortably in my Kelty Quartz4. My friend bought a 2-person El Capitan two years ago. For those 2 years we’ve been lucky enough both times to have 12-18” of fresh snowfall…part of the charm of our Algonquin backwoods winter camping.
Well, I was impressed with the El Capitan as was he. It stood up well against my four season tent…actually a bit better given the peak design of the El Capitan -- all the snow easily slid off by itself. This lead to my purchasing two of them in the 4-person over the weekend. One to add to my family collection and another for a friend I camped with in Killarney two weekends ago. He was in the market for a good three season and hands down your El Capitan design with the ability to fully zip all mesh more than fit the bill.
I initially was emailing you to ask a question but I just found the answer online at Tent City Outfitters. I still wanted to pass along my story since sometimes it is just nice to hear good news from past, present and future customers.
Thanks for being so on your game at Eureka for manufacturing a tent that is perfect for our extreme Ontario winter camp trips. Jim
